In deze oratie wordt IT-gebaseerd bedrijfsprocesmanagement (BPM) behandeld vanuit twee vakgebieden: computing science en operations management. Het doel is de relevantie, architectuur en achilleshiel van BPM-systemen te laten zien. BPM en gerelateerde technologie worden in historische context geplaatst en er wordt ingegaan op modellen voor procesontwerp, op technieken voor de analyse van procesmodellen en op systemen voor process enactment.
In this inaugural lecture, IT based business process management (BPM) are addressed from two scientific domains: computing science and operations management. The goal is to show the relevance, architecture and Achilles heel of BPM systems. BPM and related technology are put in its historical context, and models for process design, techniques for the analysis of process models, and systems for process enactment are discussed.
