Mid- to upper-level managers of people, process, or technology, in all areas and industries, who face the challenges of developing new ways of doing business, will benefit from this course. All participants are asked to bring a "living case" of change and/or innovation that they are working on or will be working on in the next six months. During the course, participants will develop an action plan for addressing their living case. |
DetailsObjectives
Participants will learn to:
* Develop and clarify their organization's goals for change
* Facilitate people's coping with change and encourage active and willing participation
* Break through the mental boundaries that hinder creativity and innovative thinking
* Develop a systems approach for anticipating and coping with the repercussions of change
* Understand and change corporate culture so it acts as an aid to change and not a hindrance
* Foster an innovative environment
* Maintain a proper balance between control and flexibility in leadership
* Nurture and maintain change efforts across time
* Develop an action plan to apply program lessons to a change management project on which you are currently working.
Content
The purpose of this course is to provide participants with concepts and methods that will help them be successful managers and leaders of change. The course draws on the latest psychological research and managerial studies on processes of thinking; dynamics of groups, teams, and organizations; corporate culture; and leadership practices. The course will explore methods for analyzing the organization, the environment, and the goals of change prior to initiating new change efforts. Participants will learn how to create and maintain a workplace and culture that facilitate and sustain change including the benefits of a creative and innovative environment.
As part of the course, participants will present a living case concerning a change management situation (past, present, or future) to discuss with the other participants. Finally, with guidance from the course faculty, each participant will prepare an action plan for upcoming change management challenges, applying new concepts and methods from the course.
